To celebrate the Western New Year in 2021,
The Kumarajiva Project, 84000: Translating the Words of the Buddha, and Bhumisparsha
jointly hosted an online celebration named “On His Lotus Seat.”
In honor of this event, we requested Rinpoche to provide film footage for a music video
featuring a recently translated sutra called “Taking Refuge in the Three Jewels.”
Rinpoche helping to film the music video for “Taking Refuge in the Three Jewels.”
The music in this video was composed by Harry Einhorn.
We invited Khyentse Rinpoche, five classical musicians, and more than twenty dharma friends
to record the sutra in Tibetan, Chinese and English.
The video is created by an young film producer, Tsangsey Wangmo.
When asked about his experience, Harry said it was very moving experience
for him to work with so many excellent musicians and film artists across so many cultures,
and that it was inspiring work with the Buddha’s words in multiple languages.
Most importantly, he found the sutra’s description of the merit
accumulated by taking refuge to be quite profound,
and was grateful for the opportunity to explore this meaning through music.
We would like to offer this vide to all our dharma friends.
May this endeavor encourage more people to recite this and many other sutras!
